'Nothing new to announce' on possible chip collaboration with Samsung: OpenAI

The company clarified that its existing collaboration with Samsung primarily involves the integration of ChatGPT and a Letter of Intent from October 2025. This LOI is specifically for Samsung to supply advanced semiconductor solutions for OpenAI's Stargate initiative, which aims to establish large AI data centers in the US. The initial reports, based on comments from OpenAI Korea's general manager, created an impression of a deeper chip co-development. However, OpenAI's statement indicates that the partnership is more focused on Samsung as a supplier for OpenAI's AI infrastructure needs rather than a co-developer of core AI chips.
