Metanoia, Aethertek, and TechPhosis Team Up to Drive 6G FR3 Technology in India
Metanoia, Aethertek, and TechPhosis have announced a collaboration to develop and commercialize 5G FR2 and 6G FR3 solutions in India. The initiative integrates the Metanoia-Aethertek Albizia radio with TechPhosis's 5G Core and Distributed Unit platforms, aiming to establish open-architecture cellular networks in the region, aligning with India's "Make-in-India" initiatives.
The collaboration centers on Metanoia's MOSART (Metanoia Open Source Advanced Radio Technology) software, which operates on O-RAN Alliance Working Group 7 (WG7) white-box radio hardware. By making MOSART available on GitLab, the initiative aims to lower development costs for open radio hardware designs. This approach provides a customizable baseline, which could reduce reliance on proprietary vendor solutions and offer more flexibility for equipment builders and operators.
A key technical component is the Albizia FR2/FR3 radio platform, developed jointly by Metanoia and Aethertek. This platform combines Metanoia's Cobra MT2824 SoC baseband chip with Aethertek's NOVA Antenna-in-Module (AiM). This modular beamforming architecture is designed to streamline the migration toward FR3 spectrum, allowing Indian operators to validate high-capacity, low-latency 5G-Advanced and explore early 6G deployments.
The integration of Metanoia's silicon, Aethertek's AiM modules, and TechPhosis's DU and 5G core stacks suggests an effort to deliver an open ecosystem for both current 5G and future 6G development. This could facilitate faster innovation cycles for telecommunication infrastructure in India, as demonstrated by SERA Network's use of Metanoia Cobra MT2824-based FR-1 ORU products.
