K-DATA’s Yang Jae-soo Links Enterprise AI Success to Usable Data and Physical AI

Yang Jae-soo, president of the Korea Data Agency (K-DATA), outlined a strategy for enterprise AI success at a recent seminar, emphasizing usable data and "physical AI." His proposals, presented at the 2026 Korea Information Industry Association–Dankook University Joint Autumn Seminar, center on secure data access and practical analytical procedures to drive business value.

K-DATA's approach aims to address key barriers companies face in adopting AI: data security and technical expertise. Yang Jae-soo introduced the "Data Safe Zone" as a mechanism to analyze sensitive information within a controlled environment. This system ensures source data remains secure, with only approved analytical outputs released after a security review, thereby allowing businesses to pursue insights while retaining control over critical information.

Complementing this, a proposed "data problem-solving bank" seeks to assist businesses with limited AI expertise. This bank would diagnose operational problems and connect companies with appropriate analytical methods and expert consulting. It is specifically intended to help small and midsize manufacturers translate their challenges, such as reducing production defects, into defined AI tasks, effectively lowering the technical entry barrier for AI adoption.

The initiative also includes a plan to make solutions reusable across companies. Experience, use cases, and analytical procedures from individual projects would be collected, standardized, and made searchable. This knowledge base, including "AX recipes" for applying AI, aims to provide other businesses facing similar challenges with relevant examples and recommendations, fostering a broader pool of practical AI knowledge for enterprise use.
