Cohere Partners CSIT to Deploy AI for Singapore’s National Security
Cohere has partnered with Singapore’s Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT) to develop AI applications for national security operations. The collaboration focuses on deploying Cohere’s enterprise AI models and its agentic AI platform, North, within highly secure, on-premises environments, following a successful pilot.
The partnership between Cohere and Singapore’s CSIT highlights a specific approach to AI deployment for sensitive national security use cases. A core capability Cohere provides is on-premises deployment, which means the AI systems run directly on CSIT's own infrastructure. This allows CSIT to maintain direct control over sensitive data and AI operations, addressing security and data sovereignty concerns often associated with external cloud-based solutions.
Cohere's offering includes centralized governance tools designed to manage AI agents, workflows, policies, and compliance, which are critical for ensuring accountability and controlled operation within national security. Additionally, the system supports role-based access controls and interoperability between different AI models, indicating an architecture built for integration into existing secure ecosystems and rigorous user management.
The development focuses on applications like secure knowledge retrieval, automated analysis, and report generation, incorporating agentic workflows to streamline operations. Alvin Huang, Chief of Data and AI at CSIT, stated that these AI-enabled capabilities aim to strengthen Singapore’s digital defense against sophisticated cyber threats. The system is designed to handle thousands of users and high-priority workloads in secure environments, suggesting a robust architecture for demanding, sensitive operations.
