Alibaba launches Qwen N1 AI glasses with swappable batteries, starting at RMB 2,899
Alibaba launched its Qwen N1 and N1 Pro AI glasses in China, with standard packages priced from RMB 2,899 and RMB 3,399 respectively. Both models integrate a 50-megapixel camera, 4K video recording, and Qwen-powered AI features such as translation, memo creation, and automatic meeting notes. The glasses feature swappable batteries.
The introduction of Alibaba's Qwen N1 and N1 Pro AI glasses highlights a consumer-facing application for large language models, specifically the Qwen AI. While many AI developments focus on enterprise solutions or foundational model advancements, these glasses represent an effort to embed AI directly into daily user interactions through a wearable device. The inclusion of features like real-time translation and automatic note-taking suggests a push towards practical, on-the-go AI assistance.
A notable design choice is the inclusion of replaceable batteries in the temples of both models. This addresses a common limitation in wearable technology, where fixed battery life can restrict prolonged use. The ability to swap batteries during operation extends the functional duration, potentially making the devices more viable for continuous tasks such as extended video recording or all-day AI assistance, without requiring a full recharge cycle.
The distinction between the N1 and N1 Pro models suggests a segmentation strategy. The N1 focuses on core first-person photography, video, and AI assistant capabilities, while the Pro model adds advanced features like eye-tracking controls, iris verification for payments, and health monitoring (heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature). This tiered offering allows Alibaba to target different user needs and price points, from general AI assistance to more specialized applications requiring biometric data and enhanced interaction methods.
