Why Qianjue’s founder expects no “ChatGPT moment” for robotics
Qianjue Technology, a Chinese robotics intelligence company, closed a nine-figure RMB Series A+ funding round. Oriza Rivertown, SSC Fund, KHK Fund, Innoangel Fund, Jingming Capital, and Future Marginal Ventures participated. The company was founded in 2023 by Gao Haichuan, a Tsinghua University doctorate holder. Qianjue focuses on predictive world models for service robots in hotels, restaurants, and cleaning.
Qianjue’s founder Gao Haichuan rejects the idea of a “ChatGPT moment” for robotics. He argues that no single technical breakthrough will transform the industry overnight. Instead, progress will come from solving specific, real-world application problems. This view is grounded in Qianjue’s work with service robots in hotels and restaurants, where demand is clear and practical deployment matters most.
The company's focus on predictive world models, developed since 2017, positions it against the prevailing belief in 2023 that connecting ChatGPT to a humanoid robot would solve everything. Gao views this as underestimating the data scarcity problem in physical robotics. For China’s robotics sector, this approach suggests a necessary shift from hype to practical, data-efficient solutions. Companies that prioritize commercial viability over flashy demos will gain traction.
The thing to watch is whether Qianjue's parallel approach of R&D and deployment can overcome the high cost of data collection in robotics. If Qianjue can demonstrate scalable, cost-effective deployments, it will validate a more pragmatic path for Asian embodied intelligence firms. This would challenge competitors still chasing generalized humanoid solutions.
