TikTok Rolls Out a Standalone TikTok Shop App in Singapore and 3 Other Southeast Asian Countries
TikTok has quietly launched a standalone TikTok Shop application in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. The new app, available on iOS and Android, offers shopping via live streams and short videos, personalized product recommendations, and in-app checkout, along with exclusive deals and shipping offers reported to be unavailable on the main TikTok platform.
The introduction of a dedicated TikTok Shop app appears to be a strategic move to expand TikTok's e-commerce reach beyond its social media user base. By separating the shopping experience, TikTok may aim to attract consumers primarily seeking a direct online shopping platform, rather than those using TikTok for entertainment. This approach could help the company tap into a broader segment of the e-commerce market.
A key incentive for users to adopt the new standalone app is the promise of exclusive deals, free shipping, and first-order benefits, as detailed in its store listing. These specific offers are designed to give shoppers a clear reason to download and use the new application, rather than relying on the existing shopping features within the main TikTok app. This direct incentive is critical for driving initial adoption and shifting user behavior.
This launch positions TikTok Shop to compete more directly with established e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada. Southeast Asia is a critical region for TikTok Shop, with its gross merchandise value (GMV) in the region estimated to have roughly doubled to US$45.6 billion by 2025, according to research firm Momentum Works. TikTok Shop accounted for 39% of combined GMV across Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop in the first half of 2026, up from 27% a year earlier, indicating its growing market presence.
