TCG: Card Shop Simulator Exits Early Access With Version 1.0 Launch
Malaysian indie developer O.P. Neon Games has launched the full 1.0 version of TCG: Card Shop Simulator, exiting Early Access. The game accumulated over four million players across Steam and Xbox Game Preview during its early release. It also sold more than 3.5 million copies. The 1.0 update introduces a playable Tetramon TCG mode and a Tournament Mode.
O.P. Neon Games, a solo Malaysian developer, found unexpected success with TCG: Card Shop Simulator. The game sold 3.5 million copies after initially targeting 100,000. This reflects the power of online communities in driving virality for indie titles, particularly those with a niche appeal like card pack opening.
The game’s success, with over 95% "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam, confirms Malaysia's growing indie game development scene. Ding Shen Sia's experience of burnout before starting this project is a common narrative among solo developers. His story shows that a clear, simple concept can outperform larger, more complex endeavors. This also confirms a market for simulation games in Asia.
The addition of a playable Tetramon TCG mode and Tournament Mode expands the game beyond shop management. This move could sustain player engagement long-term. The test for O.P. Neon Games is whether these new features can maintain the initial sales momentum and player count post-1.0 launch.
