Samsung Exynos smartphone chip market share rises to 9% in Q2
Samsung's Exynos smartphone processor market share rose to 9 percent in the second quarter. This marks its highest share since 2024. The increase was driven by strong shipments of the flagship Exynos 2600 in Galaxy S26 series phones. Midrange Galaxy A57 and A37 models also contributed to the growth. Counterpoint Research data shows this is a 2 percentage point increase from the prior quarter.
Samsung's Exynos chip market share reached 9 percent. This is a modest gain for the company. It reflects a strategic push to integrate its own silicon into more Galaxy devices. The premium Galaxy S26 series and midrange A-series phones are key to this strategy. Samsung aims to reduce its reliance on external suppliers like Qualcomm.
The test for Samsung is whether it can sustain this growth against entrenched competitors. MediaTek holds 31 percent of the market, leading the segment. Qualcomm follows with 23 percent. Apple, with its A-series chips, commands 19 percent. Samsung's 9 percent share indicates a long road ahead to challenge these leaders.
The thing to watch is Samsung's next flagship launch. Continued integration of Exynos into high-volume models will be crucial. This could shift the competitive dynamics in the Asia chip market. It also offers Samsung greater control over its device performance and supply chain.
