Hyderabad Startup Pinit Launches EV-Powered Doorstep Sari Shopping Service
Hyderabad startup Pinit has launched a doorstep sari shopping service. The company sources saris directly from weavers and uses an all-electric vehicle fleet for deliveries. Pinit employs over 150 people, mostly women, in sales, styling, customer care, and delivery roles. Founder Sangeetha Rajesh previously operated Sangeetha’s Saree Emporium, which sold more than one million saris.
Pinit's doorstep sari service is not just about convenience. It is a direct-to-consumer model that bypasses traditional retail for a niche product. This approach gives weavers more predictable income and access to new customers, a clear benefit for India's craft sector.
The real story is Pinit's focus on women's employment and zero-emission deliveries. Employing over 150 people, mostly women, in flexible roles addresses a key social challenge in India. The all-electric fleet also offers a green credential that resonates with urban consumers.
The test for Pinit will be scaling beyond Hyderabad while maintaining its direct weaver relationships and employment model. Success would point to a viable blueprint for other niche retail startups in India seeking to combine social impact with commercial growth.
