Samsung Builds AI Into Robot Design to Speed Humanoid Push
Samsung Electronics is accelerating its in-house development of humanoid robots, with a goal to debut a product at CES next year. The company has established a unique organizational structure where a single executive, Yoon Jang-hyun, oversees both hardware and AI software development for the Robotics (RX) Business Promotion Office. This approach prioritizes AI from the design stage, aiming to integrate the robot's "brain" and "body" simultaneously. Samsung has also secured core technologies, including patents for humanoid hip joints and next-generation robot hands, and registered the "SAMSUNG BOT" trademark in 2022. The company plans to leverage its global factory network, including the Gumi plant, as a large-scale data collection base for physical AI validation.
