Prof. B.S. Murty, director of IIT Hyderabad, reportedly called for a shift in India's educational focus, urging students to prioritize developing globally competitive products and creating employment opportunities. This vision extends beyond national self-reliance, aiming for India to become a developed nation by supplying goods internationally through innovation and entrepreneurship.
To cultivate this environment, Murty highlighted specific initiatives at IIT Hyderabad. These include flexible B.Tech programs, which are described as allowing students choice in curricula, and institutional support for startup ideas. These approaches aim to empower students to tailor their academic paths and transform innovative concepts into viable businesses.
