PM Modi inaugurates Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, a three-day event scheduled from October 27-29. The Conclave gathers scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, and international experts to discuss emerging technologies and India's innovation priorities, with deliberations spanning 12 thematic areas including artificial intelligence and advanced materials.
The Conclave is structured to move beyond theoretical discussions by featuring an extensive technology and innovation exhibition. This includes approximately 150 deep-tech startup stalls, which are intended to showcase indigenous technological developments and their potential applications across various sectors. This direct demonstration aims to highlight the practical outputs of scientific research.
A key initiative for fostering collaboration is the new Global Connect Networking Event. This event brings together over 300 invited participants from academic, research, and industry sectors, both within India and internationally. Its stated purpose is to explore international research partnerships, facilitate industry-academia collaboration, and establish clear pathways for translating innovations from laboratories to markets.
This design suggests a deliberate effort to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world implementation. The emphasis on showcasing startups and creating dedicated networking platforms indicates an intent to actively connect research with practical application and market opportunities, rather than solely focusing on policy discussions.
