Hwaseong to Showcase 'AI City in Motion' at MARS 2026
Hwaseong city will showcase its “AI City in Motion” concept at the MARS 2026 expo in Seoul, featuring physical AI-based robotics. The exhibition, running from November 3 to 5, plans to demonstrate bionic and humanoid robots, including the UBTECH UWORLD U1 Pro designed for direct emotional interaction with visitors.
Visitors to MARS 2026 can expect direct interaction with advanced bionic robotics, particularly the UBTECH UWORLD U1 Pro. This robot, modeled on a human face, is equipped with 33 artificial tendons and 19 facial joints. It utilizes precision actuators, moving in increments of 0.06 millimeters, to replicate subtle human expressions like eye flickers or shifts at the corners of the mouth. The system also integrates Resonance-LM, an emotion-oriented large model designed to synchronize speech with lip movement and recognize human emotions.
Hwaseong city plans for attendees to engage with the UWORLD U1 Pro at a photo zone, where they can make eye contact, converse, and shake hands, experiencing what is described as emotional interaction. This commercial deployment of a bionic robot from a global AI humanoid company at an expo hosted by a local government is noted as a first in the country, aiming to demonstrate tangible aspects of physical AI.
Beyond the bionic greeter, the expo will feature a range of humanoid robots performing specific tasks. These include the Walker C1 performing ballet at the opening ceremony, the Cruzr Y1 for logistics, Walker DEX for inventory management, and Walker DEX EDU as a patrol robot. Multilingual guide robots, Cruzr 1S, will assist overseas visitors in 20 languages, underscoring Hwaseong’s vision of robots actively integrated into various urban functions.
