Deals in brief: Singapore-based Hivebotics raises Series A funding, Temasek co-leads investment in Pixxel, 11 China deals, and more
Singapore-based robotics firm Hivebotics secured USD 6 million in Series A funding, led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India. Fareast Land Development and Rigel also participated in the round. The company, founded in 2021, specializes in autonomous systems for facilities management, with its Abluo robot cleaning toilets and its HiveIntelligence software managing cleaning schedules. Abluo has accumulated nearly 10,000 operating hours across 20 sites in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. The capital will support Abluo's volume production, expand its distributor network, and further develop HiveIntelligence.
The funding for Hivebotics underscores a growing investment trend in automation for essential services across Asia. With Abluo already deployed in hospitals and airports, the USD 6 million Series A round will enable the company to scale production and expand its reach. This suggests a strong market appetite for robotics solutions that address labor shortages and efficiency demands in facility management, particularly in urbanized Asian economies facing demographic shifts. However, the challenge for Hivebotics will be to navigate the diverse regulatory and operational environments across its target markets in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. While the technology has proven effective in pilot deployments, transitioning to volume production and expanding a distributor network globally requires significant operational maturity and localized strategies. The success of HiveIntelligence in optimizing cleaning jobs will be crucial for long-term adoption and competitive differentiation.
