Xiaomi Makes IFA Debut With Humanoid Robot and In-House AI Chip
Xiaomi made its inaugural appearance at IFA 2026 in Berlin, showcasing a broad array of AI-driven products and technologies. The Chinese tech giant occupied its largest overseas booth to date, spanning 3,300 square meters, to present over 380 items under the theme "Human × Car × Home Smart Ecosystem." Key unveilings included the CyberOne humanoid robot, the in-house developed XRing O3 3-nanometer application processor, and the Xiaomi 18 Fold, a foldable phone featuring the new chip. The company also displayed its latest AI models, such as MiMo V2.5 Pro, and a futuristic concept car, the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, alongside its SU7 electric vehicles.
Xiaomi’s IFA 2026 debut reflects a strategic push to assert its independence in core technologies and expand its AI ecosystem globally. The introduction of the XRing O3 3-nanometer chip, particularly in the Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable phone, marks a direct challenge to Qualcomm’s dominance in smartphone processors and signals Xiaomi’s ambition to control its silicon destiny. This move, supported by LPDDR6 memory from Chinese chipmaker CXMT, could reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthen China’s domestic semiconductor capabilities. The CyberOne humanoid robot, already trialed at Xiaomi’s EV plant for tasks like nut-fastening with a reported success rate increase from 90% to 98% within four months, highlights the company’s commitment to advanced robotics. This practical application suggests a focus on industrial automation and a bid for early leadership in the humanoid market, which could have significant implications for manufacturing efficiency across Asia. The integration of AI models like MiMo V2.5 Pro further underscores Xiaomi’s intent to enhance its smart factory operations and broader AI-powered ecosystem. For Asian markets, Xiaomi’s aggressive investment in AI, chips, and robotics positions it as a formidable competitor to established tech giants. The company’s "Human × Car × Home Smart Ecosystem" theme at IFA points to a comprehensive strategy to integrate AI across multiple consumer and industrial touchpoints, potentially setting new benchmarks for smart living and manufacturing in the region.
