Temasek Plans New Middle East Offices for First Half of 2027
Temasek, the Singapore-based investment company, plans to open new offices in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in the first half of 2027, subject to relevant statutory approvals. These additions will expand its global network to 15 offices across 11 countries and deepen its engagement across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.
Temasek's decision to establish a physical presence in the Middle East reflects a deliberate strategy to align with the region's economic diversification efforts. By having offices in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, Temasek aims to be on the ground where significant investment opportunities are emerging, particularly as countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE reduce their reliance on traditional industries.
The planned offices are intended to serve as hubs not only for Temasek but also for its portfolio companies, some of which will share the premises. This co-location could facilitate closer collaboration and knowledge transfer, allowing Temasek's ecosystem to bring complementary expertise to these markets and enhance access to local investment opportunities.
The appointments of Chia Song Hwee as Chairman for the Middle East and Africa, effective September 2026, and Ankit Khemka continuing as Managing Director for the region, indicate a structured approach to overseeing and executing Temasek's growth strategy. This leadership framework suggests a long-term view of engagement, extending beyond the immediate Middle East to Central Asia and Africa, as stated by Chia Song Hwee.
