Syfe Launches Income+ Max Targeting Up to 10% Annual Payouts
Syfe has launched Income+ Max, a multi-asset income portfolio targeting annual payouts of 8% to 10%, though distributions are not guaranteed. Developed with J.P. Morgan Asset Management, REX Advisors, and First Trust Advisors, the portfolio combines equities, fixed income, and gold, using options on equities and gold to generate premiums.
Syfe's Income+ Max portfolio aims to generate income from diverse sources including equity dividends, bond coupons, and premiums from selling call options. The strategy allocates 55% to equities, 35% to fixed income with short-to-medium duration, and 10% to gold. This structure is intended to address market volatility and reduce dependency on traditional equity dividends, which Syfe notes are near record lows.
The portfolio's design to include options on equities and gold is a notable feature, as option premiums can increase during periods of heightened market volatility. This mechanism could provide additional income when other asset classes might be under pressure. The inclusion of gold is also positioned as a diversifier against situations where stocks and bonds move in tandem, a common concern for multi-asset strategies.
Syfe emphasizes active management in addressing portfolio drift, citing an example where a 60/40 equity-bond allocation could significantly shift without rebalancing. The firm states that Income+ Max automatically rebalances every six months, which seeks to maintain the intended asset allocation and manage risk over time. This approach suggests a focus on mitigating unmanaged exposure changes for investors.
