SuperMe raises $20M for its network of AI expert profiles
SuperMe, a platform designed to provide expert insights via AI profiles, has secured $20 million in funding. The startup enables users to ask questions and receive responses from AI models built from real-life experts' knowledge, either through group chats or direct consultations.
SuperMe's core offering is a network of AI profiles that synthesize the knowledge of real-life professionals. Users can pose questions, and the platform identifies relevant AI expert profiles to form a group chat for responses. This approach aims to make specialized knowledge more accessible, moving beyond traditional networking. The recent $20 million funding round, led by Kirsten Green at Forerunner with participation from Greylock Partners, is intended to expand both the user base and the network of experts contributing knowledge.
A key aspect of SuperMe's operation is its method for gathering expert knowledge. The platform scans public sources such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Substack, and blogs. It also draws on connected applications like Google Drive, Notion, Gmail, and meeting notetaking tools such as Granola. SuperMe states that while some of this data may include personal information and trade secrets, it ensures such details do not appear in the AI-generated answers.
The process of interpreting, synthesizing, and delivering expert advice through AI from such diverse and extensive data sources presents a challenge regarding the fidelity and contextual accuracy of the responses. While the ambition is to make "key insights" from "the absolute best people" readily available, as co-founder Casey Winters told TechCrunch, the practical utility of SuperMe's AI profiles depends on their ability to consistently process and apply this varied information. The company's active hiring for technical roles, specifically to improve its AI models for conversation and for matching questions to experts, indicates that refining the precision and nuance of these AI-mediated interactions remains a critical development priority.
