Smart ring maker Ultrahuman to roll out biological-age model across UAE
Bengaluru-based health tech startup Ultrahuman has partnered with Abu Dhabi health authorities to develop a biological-age model. The two-year memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC) aims to validate a model combining clinical biomarkers with wearable data, with the goal of eventually making it available across the UAE.
Ultrahuman's partnership with Abu Dhabi marks a move to deploy its health algorithms on a national scale, shifting beyond its primary business of selling smart rings. The company aims to use its data collection capabilities to develop algorithms for aging and longevity. This collaboration allows Ultrahuman to apply its algorithms to a broader population than its existing customer base, which typically consists of users between 25 and 43 years old, extending its reach across various age groups in the UAE.
The biological-age model is designed to be compatible with various wearable devices, including rings, wrist-worn devices, straps, and patches, in addition to clinical biomarkers. This flexibility is key for its planned deployment across the UAE, as individuals will eventually be able to access their health age through government digital-health platforms. The two-year period for research and clinical validation suggests a structured approach to ensure the model's accuracy and reliability before its phased rollout.
This collaboration highlights a path for health tech startups to integrate their algorithms into public health systems, moving beyond direct-to-consumer hardware. While Ultrahuman's existing user data informs the model's development, the company stated the algorithm will be applied to UAE data without access to personally identifiable information. This indicates the partnership focuses on algorithm deployment rather than data acquisition from the new user base.
