Sidec: Flagship technology convention is now known as AiSEM@Selangor
Selangor’s annual technology convention, previously known as the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), has been rebranded as AiSEM@Selangor, the AI & Semiconductor Summit. This change reflects a stronger focus on artificial intelligence and semiconductors within the state’s digital economy strategy. The 11th edition of the summit, organized by Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) and co-organized by the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (Asem), will take place from October 14-17. It will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, featuring over 60 speakers and more than 150 technology exhibitors, including Intel and Sandisk.
Malaysia’s renewed emphasis on AI and semiconductors is evident with the rebranding of Selangor’s flagship tech convention to AiSEM@Selangor. This move by Sidec and Asem points to a strategic alignment with national goals to build a competitive AI and semiconductor ecosystem. The summit’s focus on homegrown Malaysian chips powering robotics and autonomous systems, along with the presence of global players like Intel and Foxconn’s Chiang Shang Yi, suggests a concerted effort to integrate local innovation with international expertise. The event also includes a Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day, connecting over 50 employers with engineering talent. This direct engagement between industry and job seekers is a concrete step towards addressing talent gaps in a critical sector. The Triple Accelerator Programme Grand Final Demo Day, showcasing 24 finalists who have collectively raised RM212 million, further underscores Selangor’s commitment to fostering startup growth within the AI and semiconductor domains.
