ONERugged Unveils Rugged Vehicle-Mount Computers for Precision Agriculture and Autonomous Mining
ONERugged, a provider of rugged computing solutions, has expanded its Vehicle PC (VPC) portfolio with new vehicle-mount computers designed for the agricultural and mining industries. The company states these solutions address a growing demand for reliable in-vehicle intelligence as both sectors increasingly adopt precision-driven and autonomous operations globally.
The introduction of ONERugged's smart farming tablets and mining vehicle tablets aims to support the shift towards automation in these industries. For agriculture, the tablets integrate with autonomous steering systems and implements, offering centimeter-level accuracy for tasks like planting and fertilization. This is intended to reduce manual labor and improve operational efficiency by enabling unmanned field operations and data-driven decision-making.
In mining, the rugged tablets are designed to facilitate autonomous vehicle operations and enhance safety. They aggregate data from various sensors, support driver-behavior monitoring, and offer 360-degree surround-view systems. The goal is to provide a hardware foundation for comprehensive operational management, continuous monitoring, and automated alerts for abnormal driving behaviors, helping to streamline workforce and fleet management.
Technologically, the VPC product line features high-performance CPUs, CAN bus communication, and extensive I/O expansion for integration with diverse vehicles and peripherals. The systems support multiple operating systems and are engineered for harsh environments with IP65 ingress protection and ISO 16750 shock and vibration resistance. A case study from Cloudy Bay winery in New Zealand suggests that the V10J model has contributed to more precise vineyard management and resource optimization.
