MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro Launched In Malaysia, Two New Flagship Smartphones Confirmed To Feature New Chipset
MediaTek launched its Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M flagship mobile chipsets in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 13, 2026. Vivo confirmed its upcoming X500 Series will feature the 9600 Pro, with a local launch expected by the end of October 2026, while OPPO had previously confirmed its own flagship device would use the chipset.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro introduces a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU configuration, with MediaTek claiming performance gains of up to 17% in single-core and 15% in multi-core tasks compared to the previous generation, alongside a 61% reduction in multi-core power consumption. These figures suggest an effort to balance raw processing power with energy efficiency for demanding mobile applications.
For graphics, the integrated Arm Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU reportedly offers up to 27% higher peak performance and 18% faster ray tracing, while reducing power consumption by 24% at peak load. The chipset's support for gaming at up to 185FPS with upscaling and frame generation indicates a focus on high-performance mobile gaming.
The dual-NPU architecture with the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine aims to enhance on-device AI capabilities, with NPU 1090 showing 51% faster LLM prefill performance and supporting Google’s on-device AISeal security. MediaTek claims this architecture allows the AI to shift from a passive responder to a more proactive on-device AI companion. The Imagiq 1290 ISP also supports imaging features like 60fps subject tracking and 4K 120fps 10-bit Log video recording.
