Longbridge rolls out external AI integrations as brokerages rethink the trading experience
Longbridge Securities is expanding its artificial intelligence strategy by introducing tools that allow external AI assistants to access brokerage functions. This initiative, centered on LongbridgeAI and a suite of developer tools, aims to provide retail investors with institutional-grade research and decision-support capabilities. The rollout uses Longbridge’s API, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI "skills" to enable AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to retrieve market data, monitor portfolios, and prepare trades. Users retain responsibility for investment decisions and trade confirmations, with Longbridge providing connectivity and order placement. The company is also expanding its operations in Singapore, where it recently opened a new headquarters at Asia Square.
Longbridge Securities is pushing AI beyond in-app features, allowing external AI assistants to connect with its brokerage services via APIs. This move, which includes the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enables retail investors to use tools like ChatGPT for market data, portfolio monitoring, and trade preparation. It reflects a broader shift among Asian brokerages to differentiate beyond basic app features, following similar integrations by Interactive Brokers and Moomoo. The real story is Longbridge's regional expansion, particularly its emphasis on Singapore as a regional base. This AI strategy complements its growth in markets like Hong Kong and the US. While the technology promises enhanced client engagement and efficiency, its long-term effectiveness, user adoption, and security safeguards, especially around data access and regulatory compliance, remain to be fully established. The firm's focus on Singapore and its multi-market support are key elements to watch.
