Linktel Technologies Highlights Breakthrough 1.6T LPO Performance & Strong Market Pull at OCP 2026
Linktel Technologies showcased its 1.6T Linear Pluggable Optics (LPO) solutions at the 2026 OCP Global Summit, reporting significant customer interest due to their energy efficiency and low latency for next-generation AI computing networks. The company stated that volume production for these modules is already in place.
Linktel's 1.6T LPO solutions, highlighted by the 1.6T LPO 2DR4, aim to address the scaling pressures in AI data centers by offering reduced power consumption, cited as low as 10W. This lower power draw directly contributes to mitigating thermal and electrical loads, which are critical operational challenges for high-density AI infrastructure. The linear optics architecture is also designed to decrease signal processing delays, a factor important for the performance of AI scale-out fabrics.
The design choice to eliminate the optical Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in LPO solutions is presented as a way to improve supply-chain resilience by reducing potential component bottlenecks. This approach could streamline procurement and ensure more consistent availability for large-scale deployments, which is a practical consideration for data center operators. Linktel also noted its LPO solutions demonstrated multi-switch platform interoperability at an early September 2026 plugfest.
In addition to the 1.6T LPO lineup, Linktel showcased other high-speed optical technologies, including 12.8T Liquid-Cooled XPO and 6.4T/7.2T NPO modules. The company's Executive Director, Dr. Grace Zhang, also detailed Dispersion Managed Transceiver (DMD) technology, which includes cost-effective 800G (20km) and 1.6T (10km) solutions. Linktel expressed openness to sharing its U.S.-filed patents for DMD technology, seeking to encourage collaborative development and broader industry adoption.
