LG Chem Partners With China's Jianghuawei on Chip Cleaning Material
LG Chem and China's Jianghuawei will establish a local supply network for ultra-high-purity isopropyl alcohol (IPA). This material is critical for cleaning semiconductors, including those used in AI processors and high-bandwidth memory. LG Chem produces 165,000 tons of C3-IPA annually, the feedstock for ultra-high-purity IPA. The partnership aims to secure new customers in the cutting-edge chip sector across Asia.
LG Chem's partnership with Jianghuawei is about securing the supply chain for advanced chip manufacturing. Ultra-high-purity IPA is a foundational material. Its quality directly impacts chip performance and yield, particularly for AI processors and HBM. This is a crucial, if unglamorous, component of the semiconductor ecosystem. LG Chem’s 165,000 tons of annual C3-IPA production provides a strong base.
The immediate beneficiary is China's domestic chip industry. Jianghuawei already supplies major Chinese chipmakers. This joint effort strengthens China's self-sufficiency in critical semiconductor materials, reducing reliance on external sources.
