KPay Granted Major Payment Institution License by MAS
KPay has been granted a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), allowing it to provide merchant acquisition, domestic, and cross-border money transfer services in Singapore. The company, which established Singapore operations in 2022, serves over 10,000 local merchants, primarily in the F&B and retail sectors.
The MAS license enables KPay to expand its service offerings beyond existing in-store payment acceptance. The company is introducing online payment capabilities for e-commerce, digital invoicing, and remote collection, alongside KPay POS, an integrated point-of-sale system for the F&B sector. These new products are designed to support merchants across both physical and digital channels, potentially extending KPay's reach to new merchant segments.
KPay's investment in governance, risk management, compliance, and technology was a condition for receiving the in-principle approval in July 2026. This regulatory approval allows KPay to operate a regulated payments business at scale, providing acquiring and money transfer services as a licensed MPI. The company states it will use the standards developed in Singapore to support its expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
Singapore serves as one of KPay Group's two headquarters and is positioned as a key market and hub for developing capabilities that will support its growth in Asia-Pacific. The company plans to increase its Singapore team and service capabilities as it scales. This indicates a strategy where the Singapore regulatory framework and operational standards are central to the company's broader regional ambitions.
