HKSTP marks 25th anniversary with white paper highlighting HK tops Asian tech growth momentum
Hong Kong’s technology enterprises rank first in Asia and fifth globally for growth momentum, according to a white paper by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and CB Insights. The report, titled Inside Asia’s Fast-Track to Global Tech Scale, assigns Hong Kong a Mosaic Score of 370, a proprietary metric evaluating private companies on momentum, financing, market opportunity, and leadership. HKSTP chairman Cordelia Chung noted the corporation’s role in fostering innovation, managing over 240 hectares of land for innovation and technology across its various parks and its Shenzhen branch. The findings were released as HKSTP began its 25th-anniversary celebrations, emphasizing its support for business development and fundraising to help companies pursue initial public offerings.
Hong Kong’s top ranking in Asia for tech growth momentum, as reported by HKSTP and CB Insights, reflects its strong position in connecting Asian innovation with global capital markets. The white paper highlights Hong Kong and Singapore’s distinct roles in facilitating investment, contrasting with China’s lead in frontier technologies and manufacturing, and India’s deal volume. This specialization within Asia’s networked innovation hubs points to a regional strategy where different markets play complementary roles in the tech pipeline. The report also notes a significant shift in Asian funding, with physical AI, robotics, and AI infrastructure dominating investment. In 2025, robotics attracted US$26.1 billion and AI infrastructure US$21.4 billion, surpassing generative AI and fintech. This indicates a strong regional focus on tangible AI applications and hardware, with China holding a dominant position in areas like foundation models for robotics and industrial humanoid robots. The emphasis on physical AI and infrastructure suggests a move towards practical, large-scale deployments rather than solely software-centric solutions.
