Former Infosys chief’s AI startup nabs another $53M
Former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka's AI startup, Hang Ten Systems, secured an additional $53 million in seed funding. This brings its total funding to $85 million, just four months after its founding in May. Temasek's Xora led the new round, with Mayfield also participating. The Palo Alto-based firm advises large enterprises on AI strategy and software development, securing multiple seven-figure contracts within weeks of launch.
Hang Ten's rapid $85 million raise in four months reflects strong investor confidence in its enterprise AI strategy. Vishal Sikka's previous leadership at Infosys provides a clear advantage in navigating complex enterprise software needs. The firm's focus on delivering production software, not just proofs of concept, differentiates it from many AI startups.
This approach positions Hang Ten to compete directly with traditional systems integrators in Asia. Companies like TCS and Wipro, which also serve large enterprises, will face a new agile competitor. Hang Ten's ability to replace incumbent providers, as noted by Sikka, points to a shift in how Asian firms will modernize legacy systems.
The key test for Hang Ten is whether its in-house framework, Hobie, scales efficiently across diverse regulated industries. Its current team of 20 to 25 employees will need to expand significantly in India and other Asian markets. Observe its hiring pace and the geographic spread of its eight-figure deals for further indication of its regional impact.
