EU, Spain join Luzon Economic Corridor initiative

The expansion of the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) to include the EU and Spain, bringing the total partners to 13, strengthens the Philippines’ position in regional infrastructure development. The USTDA’s commitment to fund a feasibility study for Subic Drydock Corp.’s shipyard expansion directly addresses growing demand for maritime services and bolsters the Philippines’ strategic importance in the Indo-Pacific. Furthermore, the USTDA’s support for ComClark Network and Technology Corp. to study AI-enabled Wi-Fi deployment for 8,000 locations by 2030 could significantly advance digital connectivity across the archipelago. The focus on US-made technology for these projects also suggests a deliberate alignment of Philippine infrastructure development with American business interests and technological standards.
