EBANX Plans Pakistan Launch, Expands Apple Pay Processing in LATAM
EBANX will launch payment operations in Pakistan in the first half of 2027. The company will initially support JazzCash and Easypaisa digital wallets, then Raast, Pakistan’s national instant payment system. This follows EBANX launches in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Türkiye this year. EBANX also rolls out a new Apple Pay processing model across Latin America, reporting a 94.4% approval rate for tokenized wallet payments.
EBANX's Pakistan entry in 2027 is a bet on mobile-first markets. Smartphone ownership in Pakistan runs 20 to 40 percentage points ahead of card ownership. This makes local digital wallets and bank transfers critical for market share. EBANX is positioning itself as the bridge between fragmented local payment infrastructure and global merchant needs.
The move into Pakistan, following five other Asian market launches this year, shows EBANX's aggressive push into Asia. The company is replicating its Latin American strategy by targeting markets with high mobile penetration and diverse local payment methods. This expansion challenges existing payment gateways in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
The thing to watch is EBANX's ability to integrate Raast, Pakistan's instant payment system, effectively. Its success will depend on securing strong merchant adoption and user trust. If EBANX can replicate its Latin American approval rates of 94.4% for tokenized payments, it will gain a significant edge.
