Denza Z9 GT to become first BYD car with God’s Eye autonomous navigation in Europe
BYD's Denza Z9 GT is set to be the first car from the manufacturer to feature "God's Eye" City Navigation Driving Assistant (CNOA) in Europe, with an anticipated arrival in 2027. This Level 2 autonomous system will allow the vehicle to navigate city addresses under driver supervision, a capability BYD announced at the Paris Auto Show 2026.
The introduction of BYD's God's Eye CNOA in Europe marks a step in the competitive landscape of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) outside of China. While marketed for fully autonomous urban navigation, the system is explicitly categorized as Level 2 autonomy. This classification means it requires constant driver monitoring and readiness to intervene, distinguishing it from full self-driving capabilities and setting practical expectations for its use in varied urban environments.
BYD's timing places it in direct competition with Xpeng, which plans to bring its Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) to Europe in early 2027. This parallel rollout suggests a broader trend among Chinese automakers to export their ADAS technologies to international markets. The initial deployment on the Denza Z9 GT, following its earlier introduction of flash charging to Europe, indicates a strategy to debut advanced features on specific models before potentially expanding them across the BYD lineup.
The God's Eye 5.0 ADAS system used in China, and presumably the basis for the European CNOA, integrates a Xuanji A3 4nm SoC with 700 TOPS of computing power. This hardware foundation, combining LiDAR, mm-wave radars, ultrasonic sensors, and cameras, points to a robust sensor suite. The technical specifications highlight the complex computational demands of Level 2 urban navigation and the investment in dedicated processing power to manage real-time environmental data.
