Chery’s iCaur V27 EREV with 300 km EV range launched in China, starting at 28,300 USD
Chery's iCar brand has launched the long-range iCar V27 EREV in China, with prices starting at 189,800 yuan (USD 28,300). The mid-to-large SUV features a 1.5T range-extender engine, a dual-motor system for a combined 335 kW output, and a 51.2 kWh CATL LFP battery providing a 300 km CLTC pure electric range.
The iCar V27 integrates significant AI computing power for both its cabin and autonomous driving systems. The "Interstellar Cockpit" features a 15.4-inch central control screen and an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, both powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, which offers 30 TOPS of AI computing power. This setup supports an AI central model and DeepSeek for functions like four-zone voice recognition and wireless phone projection.
For intelligent driving, the vehicle is equipped with the "Super Falcon 700+" system, which relies on a Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chip providing 560 TOPS of computing power. This system, paired with a sensor suite including one Hesai LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, and multiple cameras, is reported to be the first model to feature Horizon Robotics' HSD V2.1, supporting end-to-end autonomous driving.
The combination of a 300 km pure electric range and a range-extender engine offers a practical approach to new energy vehicles, addressing potential range concerns while still leveraging electric propulsion. The dual focus on advanced in-cabin AI and a robust autonomous driving system highlights how integrated intelligence is becoming a key differentiator in China's competitive new energy vehicle market.
