    AWS Unveils Hollow Core Fiber That Transmits Data 50% Faster

    Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened its Mountain View networking lab to Korean media, showcasing hollow core fiber (HCF) technology. HCF transmits data 50% faster than conventional glass fiber by using an air channel instead of a solid core. This innovation reduces latency from 5 microseconds per kilometer to 3.3-3.5 microseconds, improving data transmission speed to 300,000 kilometers per second. AWS currently uses HCF to link more than 10 separate data centers, addressing physical distance limitations as data center expansion faces increasing constraints.
