Anker Expands Beyond Chargers Into Audio and Smart Home
Anker Innovations Korea is consolidating its Soundcore and Eufy brands under the Anker name as it expands beyond chargers into audio and smart home products. The company unveiled new power banks with in-house battery technology and audio products featuring on-device AI chips for voice processing and noise cancellation.
Anker's decision to integrate brands like Soundcore and Eufy under a single Anker name suggests a strategic move to reposition itself as a broader lifestyle technology brand, extending beyond its established identity as a charger manufacturer. This consolidation aims to present a unified brand image as the company ventures into new product categories, potentially simplifying consumer recognition across its expanded portfolio.
The introduction of new power banks utilizing Anker's in-house Neo Lithium-ion Battery (NLB) technology is presented as an improvement in safety. Concurrently, new audio products are equipped with Anker's own on-device artificial intelligence chip, the Thus AI chip. This chip integrates a CPU and memory to handle voice processing and AI functions directly within the earbuds. This design choice is intended to reduce reliance on external devices like smartphones or cloud services, with the stated goal of improving call quality and noise cancellation.
Anker Korea views South Korea as a crucial market for its global business strategy, evidenced by its expansion of offline retail presence. Following store openings earlier this year, the company plans additional pop-up stores in November. This focus on physical retail in South Korea suggests an effort to establish a premium brand experience and build market presence as it diversifies its product offerings.
