Alibaba Launches Qwen Intelligence As A Full-Stack Agentic AI Platform For Smartphones
Alibaba has launched Qwen Intelligence, an agentic AI platform for smartphones. HONOR is the first partner. The platform aims to bring advanced AI capabilities to devices like the HONOR Magic9 Series and HONOR Robot Phone. Qwen Intelligence has three layers, including a Qwen-based model optimized for smartphones and modular middle platform services. It offers agents for planning, mobile use, and creative tasks, with future additions like proactive assistance.
Alibaba's Qwen Intelligence platform aims to put agentic AI directly onto smartphones. The focus is on full-stack integration from the foundation model to premium agents. HONOR is the first partner, with its Magic9 Series achieving a task accuracy rate of up to 91.8%. This reflects a push for deeper hardware-software co-development in mobile AI.
The move positions Alibaba and HONOR to challenge global leaders in on-device AI. The platform's modularity and device-cloud coordination could offer an advantage in balancing performance and cost. For other Asian smartphone makers, this raises the bar. They will need similar full-stack solutions to compete, potentially driving more partnerships with large language model developers.
The thing to watch is the expansion beyond HONOR. Alibaba's open evaluation system, with benchmarks like MobilePA-Bench, aims to standardize agentic phone performance. Success here could attract more partners. It would validate Alibaba's strategy for broader ecosystem adoption in the competitive Asian mobile market.
