UAE firm to enter Indian energy market
UAE-based technology company AIQ has signed an agreement to enter India’s oil and gas sector, deploying its AI and machine learning technology across refineries, gas stations, and digital stores. This move marks an expansion beyond its home market, where it still derives most of its revenue, company executives stated.
AIQ's entry into the Indian energy market represents a strategic effort to diversify its revenue streams. The company, a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. and Presight, currently generates most of its revenue from Adnoc, with all other customers contributing about 5 percent of its business. This expansion into India, alongside other international markets over the past 12 to 15 months, suggests a focus on building a broader customer base, although the financial impact of these new ventures remains to be seen.
The deployment of AIQ's technology across an unnamed Indian oil and gas conglomerate's refineries, gas stations, and digital stores indicates a comprehensive application of AI within the energy value chain. This aligns with a wider industry trend where AI is increasingly adopted for cloud-based software, automation of remote operations, and seismic data analysis to improve production and efficiency. The scope of the agreement suggests an attempt to integrate AI solutions across various operational touchpoints.
Beyond organic expansion, AIQ aims to pursue acquisition opportunities as part of its growth strategy. CEO Dennis Jol noted the company's substantial cash reserves, indicating that capital deployment for acquisitions is a priority. This suggests a two-pronged approach to growth: expanding its customer base through direct market entry and potentially accelerating its market presence or technological capabilities through strategic purchases, supported by its partnerships with major tech providers like Microsoft and Nvidia.
