The age of quantum
Fujitsu displayed a 64-qubit superconducting quantum computer at the Semicon Taiwan trade show in Taipei. Concurrently, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) announced it is on track to begin production of chip-level co-packaged optics (CPO) later this year, a technology critical for AI infrastructure. TSMC Vice President K.C. Hsu noted that CPO’s reliability doubts are being dismantled by real-world data. The Semicon Taiwan trade show, expected to draw over 100,000 attendees and 1,300 exhibitors, is highlighting optical interconnects for AI. Separately, TSMC increased its second-quarter employee bonuses by over 50 percent year-on-year, distributing NT$36 billion (US$1.14 billion) after posting record net profit of NT$706.56 billion.
