Simacro Clones Chemical Plants in Digital Twins for Global Push
Korean startup Simacro developed ProcessModel V, a digital twin solution for process manufacturing. The platform links physics-based simulation with real-time data and AI analysis. It targets petrochemicals, steel, oil refining, food, and pharmaceuticals. Simacro plans to raise 15 billion won this year to fund its global expansion into the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Simacro’s focus on "model ops" for process manufacturing is the key differentiator, not merely its digital twin offering. The company integrates existing vendor tools like AspenTech software, which most manufacturers use, onto a single platform. This approach addresses a real pain point: disparate software and varying engineer proficiency make holistic monitoring difficult for plant managers.
Expansion into the Middle East and Southeast Asia positions Simacro to capture growth in regions with heavy process manufacturing industries. Partnerships with a Japanese chemical firm and a U.S. energy giant validate its technology. Simacro could accelerate digital transformation for Asian chemical and food plants struggling to unify their industrial data and simulation tools.
The test for Simacro is whether it can scale its integration capabilities beyond AspenTech to other widely used industrial software. Securing 15 billion won in funding will be crucial for this expansion. Success would make Simacro a central player in connecting fragmented operational technology environments across Asia.
