Samsung reportedly starts mass production of the Exynos 2700 for the Galaxy S27 series
Samsung is reportedly mass producing its Exynos 2700 chip for the 2027 Galaxy S27 series, according to tipster Ice Universe. The chip is said to use Samsung’s second-generation 2nm SF2P process and feature new FOWLP-SbS packaging, with production volumes allegedly 10% higher than the previous generation.
The reported mass production of the Exynos 2700, if accurate, suggests Samsung's continued investment in its in-house chip development for future flagship devices. The alleged 10% increase in unit production compared to the prior generation indicates a scaled manufacturing effort, potentially to support wider adoption within the Galaxy S27 series.
Technical claims for the Exynos 2700 highlight several advancements. The chip's use of Samsung’s second-generation 2nm SF2P process is said to offer 12% higher performance and 25% lower power consumption. Furthermore, the adoption of fan-out wafer-level side-by-side (FOWLP-SbS) packaging, which places the processor and memory next to each other under a copper-based heat path, is reportedly seen by Samsung as a more efficient thermal management solution than previous direct heat sink designs.
For graphics, the Exynos 2700 is likely to feature the Xclipse 970, built on AMD’s RDNA 5 architecture with 16 compute units, which could lead to a GPU performance increase of 30% to 40%. The chip's support for LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage also implies an emphasis on enhancing data transfer speeds, which is important for overall device responsiveness.
