OCBC Users Can Now Get Over 200 Travel Deals With Overseas QR Payments

OCBC has integrated Alipay+ Travel Treat into its app, offering customers over 200 travel deals across seven Asian destinations, including mainland China, Japan, and South Korea. This initiative follows a significant increase in overseas QR payment usage, which more than doubled in the first eight months of 2026. OCBC claims to be the first Singapore bank to provide such rewards directly within its application.

OCBC's integration of Alipay+ Travel Treat into its mobile application streamlines access to a network of over 200 merchant deals for customers making overseas QR payments. This new feature allows users to claim dining, shopping, and travel vouchers directly through the OCBC app, with discounts automatically applied at participating Alipay+ merchants across seven destinations, including key markets like mainland China, Japan, and South Korea.

This expansion builds on a partnership with Alipay+ that commenced in 2024 and responds to a clear trend in customer behavior. During the first eight months of 2026, the number of OCBC customers utilizing overseas Alipay+ QR payments via the app, along with their transaction values, reportedly more than doubled compared to the previous year. This growth was predominantly driven by spending in mainland China, Japan, and South Korea, underscoring the demand for integrated payment solutions in these regions.

The move reflects OCBC's strategy to enhance its digital ecosystem, as articulated by Regina Lim, Head of Group Card Payments and Personal Loans, who noted the aim is to offer a more seamless and rewarding experience through an app customers already use. Edward Yue of Alipay+ Power Center added that customers expect more than transactions from mobile apps, creating an opportunity for banks to engage beyond payments. The Alipay+ platform could eventually support additional services within the banking app, such as ride-hailing and food delivery, further integrating travel-related services.
