Nasdaq Appoints Andrew Murray as APAC Financial Technology SVP
Nasdaq has appointed Andrew Murray as Senior Vice President for Financial Technology in Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, to expand its technology business with regional financial institutions. This move follows the earlier relocation of Bob McCooey, Nasdaq’s Vice Chairman and Head of International Listings, to Singapore, focused on connecting Asia-Pacific companies with global capital markets.
Nasdaq's recent executive appointments in Singapore signal a focused effort to integrate its technology and capital markets offerings in Asia-Pacific. Andrew Murray brings over three decades of experience across treasury, trading, and capital markets, including a previous role at Calypso Technology, now part of Nasdaq. His mandate is to strengthen client partnerships and expand Nasdaq’s technology business.
These personnel decisions follow Nasdaq's establishment of a Singapore office in March 2026, providing a local base for operations. The strategy is further supported by the regulatory framework for SGX’s Global Listing Board, which became effective in June 2026. This framework allows for dual listings with Nasdaq for companies valued at S$2 billion or more, creating a direct pathway for regional firms to access broader capital pools.
Valerie Bannert-Thurner, Nasdaq’s Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer for Financial Technology, notes that Asia-Pacific is experiencing significant innovation driven by AI and data, moving towards globally connected markets. Murray’s experience is intended to help clients navigate complex technology challenges in this evolving environment, reflecting a long-term strategic commitment to the region’s financial technology and capital markets.
