Korean Farm Machinery Makers Showcase AI, Self-Driving Tractors
South Korean farm machinery makers Daedong, TYM, and LS Mtron unveiled AI-equipped and self-driving agricultural machines, robots, and digital farming services at the KIEMSTA 2026 expo in Daegu. These displays included a Level 4 autonomous tractor with vision AI, multi-tasking farming robots, and AI-powered assistants designed to automate farm record-keeping and predict machinery breakdowns.
South Korean farm machinery manufacturers are integrating AI and autonomous capabilities to enhance agricultural operations. Daedong showcased its HX1400-AI artificial intelligence tractor and a Level 4 autonomous tractor utilizing vision AI, allowing visitors to simulate field work. The company's RT100 farming robot demonstrated versatility, performing hauling and mowing tasks from a single platform, indicating a move towards adaptable automated labor.
TYM presented its T130 Level 3 autonomous concept tractor, designed for automatic straight-line driving, turning, and obstacle detection. LS Mtron also displayed its MT9 autonomous tractor and EON electric tractor. These developments suggest a focus on automating physical fieldwork, aiming to reduce manual effort and potentially optimize resource use through precise machine operation.
Beyond physical machinery, digital services are leveraging AI to streamline administrative and maintenance aspects of farm management. Daedong's AI Daedongi, a farming assistant, allows users to write farming logs and manage field work via phone calls, automatically recording descriptions for calendars and ledgers. TYM's upgraded MYTYM telematics service strengthens AI-based condition forecasting, intended to prevent machinery breakdowns by detecting warning signs proactively.
