Kakao Unveils KATok, a Technology That Cuts AI Video Generation Costs
Kakao has developed KATok, an adaptive tokenization technology designed to significantly reduce the computing costs associated with AI video generation. This innovation will be presented at the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) 2026 in Sweden. KATok works by allowing AI to dynamically adjust computation based on video complexity, assigning more tokens to complex scenes and fewer to static ones. In testing, the technology improved video generation model training speed by approximately 6.9 times and video generation speed by about 3.2 times compared to existing methods. Kakao plans to further refine KATok for higher-resolution and longer-form video applications.
