Gemini adds new connected apps for productivity, creativity, and lifestyle
Gemini now connects directly to more than 14 third-party applications, integrating productivity, creativity, and lifestyle tools. Users can manage projects, create assets, and handle personal tasks without leaving the chat interface. This update brings tools like Airtable, Adobe, and Peloton directly into conversations. Mai Lowe, Group Product Manager for the Gemini App, stated this eliminates switching between tabs for workflows.
Gemini's new app integrations are not about a novel AI capability. Google's integration of 14+ third-party apps like monday.com and Adobe is a play for user retention and enterprise stickiness. Google aims to keep professionals inside its AI ecosystem. It reduces the friction of context-switching, a persistent drain on focus for teams moving between platforms all day.
For Asian enterprise software providers, this presents a clear challenge. Companies like Zoho, which is among the integrated apps, gain direct exposure within Gemini. However, others not yet included face increased pressure to integrate or risk losing mindshare. The test for regional players is whether they can replicate this deep integration with other large language models or risk becoming isolated.
The thing to watch is how quickly Gemini expands these integrations to Asian-specific enterprise tools. If Google prioritizes Western software, it will limit the immediate impact on Asian users. A rollout targeting platforms like WeChat Work or DingTalk would signal a more aggressive play for the regional enterprise market.
