Finastra Launches AI Feature to Help Banks Resolve Payment Errors
Finastra has launched an AI feature called Repair Recommendations, designed to help banks investigate and resolve payment errors more quickly. The new capability, announced at Sibos 2026, integrates into existing payment workflows and provides guidance validated against various payment scheme rules, including Swift and UPI.
Finastra's Repair Recommendations feature aims to address the growing volume of payment transactions by automating parts of the error resolution process. By identifying discrepancies and analyzing their causes, the system recommends corrections, potentially reducing the time and effort banks spend on manual investigations. This approach supports human operators, as all recommended actions require review and approval, rather than fully automating the process.
The integration of this cloud-native feature into existing Finastra systems like Global PAYplus and Payments To Go is intended to extend the investigative and analytical capabilities of AI OperatorAssist. This suggests an enhancement of current offerings, focusing on practical application within established banking infrastructure to improve operational efficiency.
Barry Rodrigues, EVP of Payments at Finastra, stated that the feature empowers banks to "upgrade their payment operations" by reducing resolution times and minimizing errors. This indicates a direct value proposition for financial institutions by accelerating repairs and streamlining processes, particularly as payment volumes increase.
