China Automotive Systems' Fully Redundant AP04 EPS Platform Meets ASPICE 4.0 CL2 in Joint Assessment by European OEM and UL
China Automotive Systems' subsidiary, Hubei Henglong Automotive System Group, has achieved ASPICE 4.0 Capability Level 2 for its AP04 EPS platform, as validated by a European automaker and UL. This certification covers 19 core process areas, including systems, software, hardware engineering, and project management, and supports planned mass production for European markets by late 2026.
The ASPICE 4.0 CL2 certification indicates that Henglong's automotive software and hardware R&D processes meet a recognized international standard for quality and control. This level of capability is often a prerequisite for suppliers working with European automakers, who are noted for their stringent entry requirements in supply chain R&D.
The assessment of the AP04 platform's end-to-end R&D capabilities suggests that the company has established disciplined and repeatable engineering processes. This is crucial for automotive components like Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems, where reliability and safety are paramount, particularly as these systems become more integrated with vehicle software.
Beyond the European validation, Henglong also secured development rights for R-EPS platform-based models with a leading China-based automaker, after meeting all R&D testing criteria. This dual achievement suggests a consistent application of their R&D capabilities across different market demands and regulatory environments, potentially strengthening their position in both domestic and international supply chains.
