C-DAC And Bank Of India Partner To Explore Indigenous Quantum Tech
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Bank of India (BOI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore indigenous quantum technologies and emerging digital solutions for banking. The collaboration, signed on October 22, 2026, focuses on cybersecurity, financial innovation, and building a future-ready banking ecosystem, according to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The partnership between C-DAC and Bank of India is a proactive step to address potential long-term security vulnerabilities. Current cryptographic standards, which secure sensitive financial data, may eventually face challenges from future quantum computing capabilities. By developing "quantum-safe solutions," the initiative aims to build new security protocols designed to withstand these anticipated threats, thereby ensuring the ongoing resilience and trustworthiness of banking systems.
A key component of the collaboration is the establishment of a "Quantum Ecosystem for Financial Innovation." This involves integrating C-DAC's expertise in high-performance computing, AI, quantum technologies, blockchain, and cybersecurity with Bank of India's banking knowledge. The goal is to identify priority banking use cases, develop proofs of concept within secure environments, and benchmark emerging technologies against existing systems to inform future adoption strategies.
Beyond quantum technologies, the MoU encompasses potential applications for AI and blockchain. These include intelligent document processing, fraud analysis, credit analytics, secure AI platforms, smart contracts, and digital identity. S. Krishnan, Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), highlighted the need for a quantum-resilient financial ecosystem, underscoring the broader awareness of evolving cybersecurity concerns and technological risks in the sector.
