Asus launches ProArt GR1X Mini PC with Nvidia RTX Spark Superchip

Asus has launched the ProArt GR1X, a new compact desktop computer built around Nvidia’s RTX Spark architecture. The mini PC, designed to run large local AI models and creative applications on Windows without cloud reliance, features a Grace CPU and Blackwell RTX GPU with a shared LPDDR5X memory pool, according to the company.

    Nexa's Summary

The Asus ProArt GR1X integrates Nvidia's RTX Spark Superchip, which combines a 20-core Grace CPU and a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores. This hardware configuration is notable for its NVLink-C2C interconnect, allowing both processors to access a unified pool of LPDDR5X memory. This shared memory architecture aims to address memory constraints that typically limit the size and complexity of AI models that can be run locally on a device.

The mini PC offers configurations with 64GB or 128GB of unified memory. Asus claims the 128GB variant can run large language models with up to 120 billion parameters entirely on-device, reducing dependence on cloud processing. This capability focuses on enabling local AI processing, supporting the Nvidia CUDA ecosystem, and integrating with open-source tools like the Hermes AI agent from Nous Research and native support for ComfyUI.

The GR1X is housed in a compact 1.1-liter chassis with a dual-fan cooling system and vented design engineered for continuous 24/7 operation, managing a 140W TDP. Its connectivity options include a 10G Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C ports, supporting up to four 4K displays. While pricing has not been announced, the focus on local AI processing for creative and model-driven tasks positions it for users prioritizing powerful on-device computational capabilities.
