Theta Edge unit to develop Shah Alam Line telecom network for Prasarana
Theta Edge Bhd's subsidiary, Theta Telecoms Sdn Bhd (TTEL), has been appointed by Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd to develop a telecommunication common network infrastructure. This project will run along the Shah Alam Line right of way in Malaysia. TTEL will handle network design, civil works, fiber optic installation, and equipment integration, with an initial contract period of five years starting September 1, 2026. The agreement includes options for two successive five-year renewals and a revenue-sharing model where Prasarana receives a minimum of RM500,000 annually or 13% of gross revenue, whichever is higher.

The deal, which starts generating income from September 2026, is structured with recurring revenue shared with Prasarana, ensuring a minimum of RM500,000 per annum for the public entity. The project's reliance on internally generated funds or borrowings for financing suggests a measured approach to expansion. The five-year initial term, with two five-year renewal options, provides a decade-plus horizon for the venture, contingent on TTEL's performance. This structure offers a clear incentive for quality service and network reliability in a critical urban corridor.
